Rhett:
The nice thing about looking for Elita at school is that I do not have to look hard-especially after this weekend. Everyone in school has been talking about her. Today she is wearing these incredible Jean shorts that I happened to get a great view of right before she bent down. She stands back up with a look of annoyance that I think is cute. The tiny girl next to her which I know to be Rose holds the hand of a child that I assume is the result of the teenage pregnancy that was the talk of the town at one point. I do not know Rose well. I just know of her. After she had her child, she became reclusive. No one really saw her much so it was surprising that Elita grew so close to her. I couldn’t tell you when they formed a friendship but the three were often together at school. Rose looks me up and down and a big smile grows from her lips.
“Well, hello…” she says.
“Hi, Rose.” She seems happily surprised that I know her name. Elita rolls her eyes.
“It is Elita, right?” I ask.
“Depends on who’s asking.” She replies sarcastically. Rose playfully swats her arm.
“Elita!”
“Well, thanks Rose!” She says adjusting her book bag around her shoulders.
